Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza

Just a quick one today.

Not a very complicated recipe, but a good pizza that eats like a meal.

Bacon Cheeseburger Pizza

4 slices of bacon
1/2 lb ground beef
drizzle of oil
1/2 cup onion, diced
1 clove of garlic, minced
2/3 cup mozzarella cheese
2/3 cup cheddar cheese
1 store bought prebaked 12" pizza crust (such as Boboli)
3-5 tablespoons of pizza sauce (according to taste)
salt and pepper

I bake my bacon. It's the best way, in my opinion.

Start by setting the oven to 400F.

Lay out your bacon on some foil and immediately put it in the oven (before the preheat is finished) and set the timer for 17 minutes.

This is my method. Adjust the time to your specific oven, but this is a good place to start. Just keep an eye on it towards the end to avoid burning.

Toss some onion and garlic in a pan with a drizzle of oil. We're only going to cook it for 2-3 minutes on medium heat.

At 10 minutes you can flip your bacon. I don't always do this, but this bacon was on the fatty side, so I did.

Continue baking.

When your onions and garlic have been going 3 minutes, add in the beef and cook until it is no longer pink. This should take about 5 minutes or so. Add some salt and pepper (or any other spices you prefer) and cook for a few more minutes. You shouldn't need more than 10 minutes total.

When it's finished, drain the meat and set aside.

Your bacon should be done by now.

Lay the slices on a paper towel and let cool.

Cut into bacon bits and set aside.

Ge your pizza crust out.

Cover with pizza sauce. I used 3 tablespoons. It's up to you how saucy you want it. I'll probably use a little more next time.

Mix 1/3 of a cup of each of the cheeses in a small bowl to combine.

Spread evenly on the pizza.

Spread out the beef mixture.

Spread the remaining cheese (1/3 additional cup each) over the beef layer.

Top with the bacon bits.

Pop into a preheated 400F oven for 12-15 minutes.

Remove when the cheese has melted and the crust is crispy.

I like this pizza because it's really filling. One pizza can take care of dinner.

The beef is satisfying and bacon makes everything better. Like I said, I'll probably put more sauce on next time and will experiment with homemade dough. But that's for another time.

Enjoy!
